AL AMAL Youth Center – Rabat, Morocco
A public facility designed as a meeting place
The Al Amal Youth Center is designed as an open, welcoming, and accessible local facility, intended to provide young people with a genuine space for meeting, exchanging ideas, and engaging in activities.
AGA Studio has developed an intentionally understated, contemporary design in which the simplicity of the forms and the natural light help create a building that is instantly recognizable, while maintaining a human scale suited to its social purpose.
A strong, clean architectural identity
The project stands out for an architectural style based on purity of form and the use of white, which unifies the building’s various components.
The main façade establishes the facility’s identity through a large, curved volume that naturally marks the entrance. Signage—integrated directly into the architecture in both French and Arabic—becomes an integral part of the façade and reinforces the building’s institutional presence.
The interplay of solid and void, openwork elements, and vegetation complements this composition, while adding shade, depth, and rhythm to the facades.
Light, ventilation, and user comfort
The design prioritizes natural light, ventilation, and the quality of interior spaces. Openings and transitional areas are designed to create visual connections between the building’s various functions and to foster fluid, user-friendly interactions.
This focus on climatic conditions is part of an architectural approach tailored to the Moroccan context, where solar protection, transitional spaces, and natural ventilation directly enhance user comfort.
Architecture serving the community
Beyond its architectural expression, the Al Amal Youth Center was conceived as a unifying space designed to accommodate diverse activities and foster social interaction.
Through this project, AGA Studio continues its exploration of the design of public and socio-cultural facilities in Morocco: an architecture that is contemporary, functional, and sustainable, attentive both to its environment and to the people who use it.
