Socio-Cultural Center, Kenitra

This project is part of AGA Studio’s overall approach as an architecture firm working in Rabat and throughout Morocco on restaurant, hotel, and commercial projects.

Project Context

The Kenitra Sociocultural Center, built for the Hassan II Foundation for Moroccans Living Abroad, is a large-scale project situated on a 6-hectare site. Conceived as a self-contained village, this project transcends the simple notion of a facility to become a place for living, meeting, and cultural exchange.

Architectural Design and Vision

The architecture is organized around a traditional Moroccan square incorporating a central fountain. The buildings are arranged coherently to create harmony between built and landscaped spaces, while fostering interaction and conviviality.

Organization of Spaces and Program

The program includes a multipurpose room, workshops, 17 cabins, staff accommodations, administrative offices, a clubhouse, and an agora. Each space has been designed to meet the needs of children of Moroccans living abroad during the summer months, as well as adult groups during the off-season.

Landscape and Cultural Integration

The extensive green spaces play a central role in the project’s design, fostering a peaceful connection with nature. The architecture combines Moroccan cultural references with a contemporary approach, ensuring the project’s long-term sustainability and relevance.

AGA Studio’s Role

AGA Studio was responsible for the architectural design, team coordination, and overall project management, in collaboration with landscape architects and specialized engineering firms. This project confirms the agency’s expertise as an architect in Morocco for cultural facilities with a strong social impact.
