This project is part of AGA Studio’s overall approach as an architecture firm operating in Rabat and more broadly throughout Morocco, on restaurant, hotel and commercial space projects.
The Ahrarine Mosque, located in Tangier, is undergoing a reconstruction project led by the Ministry of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Covering an area of 1,900 m², this project combines a mosque, housing, and shops in a comprehensive and structured architectural approach.
The project aims to reconcile the spiritual dimension of the site with complementary urban functions. The architectural design is based on a clear organization of volumes and a hierarchy of spaces, making it possible to meet religious needs while integrating ancillary activities.
The spaces were designed to ensure smooth circulation between the mosque, the residences, and the shops. Particular attention was paid to the clarity of access points and the separation of traffic flows to guarantee comfort, safety, and functionality.
Located in a key district of Tangier, the project is part of an urban integration strategy that respects the existing built environment. The architecture draws on cultural references while adopting a contemporary style adapted to the Moroccan urban context.
AGA Studio acts as an architect in Morocco, providing design, coordination, and construction supervision. This project illustrates the firm’s ability to manage complex institutional projects on a national scale.
